Definition:

Epinephrine (adrenaline) is a catecholamine produced in the adrenal glands.

Epinephrine is a "fight or flight" (body-wide reflex that prepares you for battle or running away) hormone, and prepares the body to deal with emergencies. Accordingly, effects of epinephrine include increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, and a rise in delivery of oxygen to the brain and muscles.

When used as a drug, epinephrine significantly increases heart rate and blood pressure.
