Definition:

The EKG is a graph-style representation of electrical activity within the heart.

It has been used as a diagnostic tool in medicine for nearly 100 years and continues to provide accurate, reliable information in many types of acute and chronic heart problems.

Certain diseases of the cardiovascular system are associated with specific changes in the EKG drawing, which provides a fast and cost effective way to diagnose a variety of heart related problems.

The EKG is a safe, non-invasive diagnostic procedure.
