California Enacts New Smoking Ban - In Cars
California, well known for its progressive stance on health and healthcare, has become the first in the nation to outlaw smoking in all vehicles containing those under 18 years old. Governor Schwarzenegger recently signed the bill to limit children's "exposure to toxic secondhand smoke."
First offenders are subject to a $100 fine, but police officers are not allowed to stop vehicles solely to issue these citations. Much like most seat belt laws, tickets for breaking this law can only be issued if the vehicle was first stopped for another reason.
The law takes effect on January 1st, 2008, and is the latest in a long line of California laws aiming to protect the public from the effects of secondhand smoke, including one ordinance that bans smoking within 25 feet of all playgrounds.
Smoking is the number one controllable risk factor for the prevention of high blood pressure.

Andrea is 100% correct that smoking around children is a horrible practice. She does however need to learn correct puncutation, grammer and spelling.
