More Americans Reaching HBP Treatment Goals
The number of Americans reaching treatment goals for high blood pressure rose 8% for 2003-2004 compared to 1999-2000. Encouraging news, according to researchers, who published the data in the journal Hypertension, which is run by the American Heart Association.
The data also shows that the number of people developing high blood pressure stayed about the same during the same time period.
While the increasing number of people successfully controlling their high blood pressure is good news, the overall statistics still leave much room for improvement. According to the study, just 29% of Americans reach treatment goals, meaning that almost 2/3 of patients fail to control their high blood pressure.
